Punk-And-Billy Bash # 14:
Nine Pound Hammer + Green Kryptonite - May 20th, Loppen

Due to excessive drinking at my friend Rene's place and his insistance on playing the new great Turbonegro album we sorta missed Bondage Corporation. I caught their last tune which had some female backup singers and it sounded just fine. People told me they'd evolved and put on an excellent show of southern influence hardrock with some Motörhead touches. Sorry guys, a future issue of Lowcut will feature a review of debut album and an interview as well.
Green Kryptonite, a young combo of Sweden, performed a set of wellcrafted Johnny Burnette/Carl Perkins style rockabilly with a couple of choice covers like "Whiskey In the Jar", "Baby Please Dont Go" and "Should I Stay Or Should I Go". Nothing mindblowing but pretty
decent.
Its been more than 10 years since our Kentucky hellraisers visited Loppen and anyone who thought they couldn't cut it anymore where totally put to shame. Just full-on fast country fried punkrock like Merle Haggard-meets-Motörhead with a deathwish. Most songs where from their last two albums "Hayseed Timebomb" and "Kentucky Breakdown" and the crowd went ga-ga frenzy. Scott had put on like 50 pounds while Blaine lost weight but they still kicked some serious ass like the last time. Surely one of the world's most underrated bands! See interview with Nine Pound Hammer elsewhere in this issue. Killer nite, and another triumph for the Punk-And-Billy Bash people - so keep'em coming!
