month:
The Psyke Project
With "Daikini", The Psyke Project released, if not
the finest, then arguably the most brutal album to come out
of our viking lands so far this year. Whether that judgment
will stand come New Year is up to Menfolk to battle, when
the secretive math rockers finally release their debut LP
in November, but meanwhile, The Psyke Project will tour Denmark
and Sweden on the back of "Daikini". Expect guitars
downtuned to hell, guttural growling, and cascades of noise.
The "Embrace the Noise Tour" dates look like this:
· Pitstop, Kolding, Oct. 1st
· Skylten, Linnköping, Oct. 12th
· Kafe 44, Stockholm, Oct. 13th
· Gimle, Roskilde, Oct 21st
· Slotbio, Hillerød, Oct 22nd
· Urt, Thisted, Oct. 28th
· Sysseltinget, Hjørring, Oct. 29th
· Elværket, Helsingør, Nov. 4th
· Rytmeposten, Odense, Nov. 5th
· Loppen, Cph, Nov. 25th
· Ungdommens Hus, Fredericia, Dec. 3rd

Baby Woodrose
In a totally different, but no less viking-style, part
of the Danish rock'n'roll landscape, Baby Woodrose are finally
done mixing their next album of original material, which will
be their fourth in total after last year's covers record "Dropout!".
The basic tracks were laid down in December 2003 in the studios
of DR, the National Danish Radio, where also the Peter Belli
7" was recorded; an opportunity the band had been given
after winning DR's prize for best new name that year. Since
then, more tracks have been added and the tapes have been
travelling back and forth between the band and the studio
in Helsinki where they were mixed, but finally it's done.
The band is working with a handful of alternate titles and
looking at a release next February, while they're negotiating
contract with a new, as yet unnamed, label.
To get an idea of what the new material is all about, check
out their tour dates in Denmark in October:
· Rytmeposten, Odense, Oct 6th
· Stengade 30, Cph, Oct 13th
· Studenternes Hus, Næstved, Oct 29th
and Norway in November:
· Rock Bottom, Oslo, Nov 23rd
· Driv, Tromsø, Nov 24th
· Blæst, Tronheim, Nov 25th
· Kvarteret, Bergen, Nov 26th

Area International
Area International is a new collaboration between Cph-sound
and Swedish record label Kooljunk Communications, and Fast
Beat Records. Under the title "Your Scandinavian Rock
Connection" they will be promoting, distributing, and
booking bands like The Psyke Project, Metric Noise, and Wild
Evil Entertainment Dept. as a collective force. Over the fall,
they are going to re-release Swedish and German bands Pushtwangers,
Fingerspitzengefühl, and Green Frog Feet in Denmark,
and the two first Psyke Project albums in Sweden. They'll
also be swigging free beer and talking up potential distributors
at "all major business events in northern Europe like:
Swedish Metal Expo, AAA, Spot Festival, Popkomm & Radiohuset
Rocker." Good luck, then.

Poetic noise rockers MOB release their 3rd album, "We
All Repeat the Past", on their own Lärm label in
collaboration with the German label Tumbleweed Records. The
album, which debuts drummer Gustav Sandegård - who is
doing wonderful things with his kitchen, by the way (hey,
these are our equivalent of society pages, aren't they?) -
is launched with a release party on October 7th at Studenterhuset
in Copenhagen from 8 pm onwards.
