'Rock Mod Bjarne'. On Trial, Highway Child - July 7th,
Pusher Street/Woodstock, Christiania
"We wanna be free! We wanna be free to do what we wanna
do. We wanna be free to ride. We wanna be free to ride our
machines without being hassled by THE MAN! ... And we wanna
get loaded!"
Yeah, it was like Peter Fonda was there in outlaw spirit at
Pusher Street in front of the Woodstock bar. The free concert
was a middle finger to police chief of Copenhagen, but strangely
enough Bjarne didn't turned up, FUCK THE MAN! After seeing
some local blues rockin' bands from 3 to 7, I was pretty tanked
by the time On Trial hit the stage around 8, but not as tanked
as their recent Loppen gig, haha. We got songs from their
excellent new "Forever" record as well as old ones
like "Blood Butterfly" and a neat cover of Pentagram's
"Be Forwarned". Psych rock'n'roll of the finest
quality, but the sound wasn't that good, Henrik's guitar was
turned too low compared to Bjarni's. Bo's vocals wasn't that
clear, but still a kickass show. Prior to On Trial going on
I had text messaged Highway Child, and all the 4 guys turned
up. There wasn't really planned a band after On Trial, but
Highway Child were game and delivered a sensational balls-out
hardrockin' show. On Trial's Nik played the bass in the beginning,
later Bo helped out with the vocals, but Patrick and Paw were
totally possessed by the moment and the rock'n'roll gods from
above (or below) with songs like "Send Me More",
"Highway Child", "Love For Sale" and the
new ditty, "Change Yourself". The show rocked so
fierce and loud that someone later told me the cops were afraid
to patrol the area because they couldn't communicate with
each other due the demonic volume of Highway Child, and they
were afraid to get beaten up if they stopped the show! What
a perfect ending of the 'Rock Mod Bjarne' day at Christiania.
FUCK THE MAN!!!
