The BossHoss
Stengade 30, Copenhagen, June 28th 2006
I really enjoyed "Internashville Urban Hymns" and
the new record "Rodeo Radio" by The HossBoss is
pretty good, but being a huge fan of Hayseed Dixie, who's
concept of country covers of popular hits is similar, I wasn't
sure what to expect from this Berlin combo. All the 7 guys
were wearing wifebeater shirts and cowboy hats, and Boss and
Hoss babbled on with exaggerated Texas redneck accents as
they covered Cardigans, Britney Spears, Nelly, Tom Jones,
Ministry, t.A.t.U. and Diana Ross, sounds takcy? Well, it
was but also very entertaining since they're insanely good
musicians, I especially enjoyed the harp player, c'mon - it's
all just good solid fun. Maybe they should focus on their
original songs (they're really good), and instead of today's
pop hits do more rock classics (like Hayseed Dixie)...I dunno.
Anyway, The Bosshoss' 70 min. show was just what I needed
after seeing 20 garagerock acts at Primitive.
