Traveling Circle is another offspring from the Brooklyn scene of neo-psychedelic bands. Seems like Brooklyn is the place to be when it comes to inventive music these days. The band delivers mesmerizing music and with one of the most intriguing male vocals ever. Their debut album is out on Nasoni Records, the home of quality psychedelic stuff. I humbly asked them to answer a few questions – and they responded by having all three members feed back – and that is so cool …

It all started around the mid 80’s with thrash metal like Metallica, Exodus and Slayer. Some years later I went to efterskole (boarding school), by that time I was totally into Black Sabbath. Every morning for a whole year my roommate and I woke up to rain, church bells and thunder; that was the opener Black Sabbath from their ‘self-titled’ first record (1970). That record with its bluesy wipe to the doomy universe stayed with me. I still regard their first six records among the best ever recorded. When booking shows as ‘Doomed Denmark’ it has always been with Black Sabbath in mind.

(The Eye Production)
Vem Bryr Sig? was a short-lived Swedish punk act from Lindingö. The teens rehearsed at schools, basements and likewise facilities. They only played a few shows and never made a record. This is the story about those guys hanging in a band - and it's a cool story told by singer Henrik Weston like it was happening right now. You will get sucked into the story about 80's kids being teens and getting caught by the punk movement.

By Anders (Cola Freaks, Jay Reatard Band) Bye bye Jay I rarely receive letters, but today I did. Inside the letter was a cd with a bootleg recording from the Jay Reatard show at Loppen, Copenhagen on it, one of the nearly 40 shows my friend Jacob and I did with Jay. I threw the cd on the stereo and was instantly overwhelmed with memories and emotions, joy, sadness and anger in equal measures. What a loss! I had only known the person Jimmy Lindsey for a couple of months before he was taken away from us. But of course I had known the artist Jay Reatard for quite some time. When I was first introduced to his music I wasn't instantly impressed. I wasn't a big fan of the garage trash of The Reatards (I know I'm a poser!) and I couldn't really relate to the synth stylings of Lost Sounds. |

A lotta clueless people at my age (born in the 60s) claim with nostalgic tears running down their cheeks that the Copenhagen 80s hardcore/punk scene was sooo much better then than now. What an embarrassing load of ignorant crap!
